Area Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Police state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis show the substance was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
An important official commented the vandalism made him speechless and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
