Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Gang
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. She gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
