AC Shadows Introduces Bizarre Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving

In a unexpected crossover event that breaks usual expectations, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing free bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Revealed

According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous transformations echo through the darkness." The narrative features a "strangely dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine cult.

The adventure centers on "strange experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is accessible to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.

Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses

The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the hostage, changing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.

Exclusive Prizes and Extra Features

Players who accomplish the adventure will receive an unique katana together with numerous items secreted throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

  • Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
  • Mikasa costume for Naoe
  • Unique weapons
  • Survey Corps vehicle

Third Free Story Update

This release also adds the game's newest free story content, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission partners Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive techniques: Naoe introduces a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Earlier Anime Crossovers

This represents not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime properties. The series previously featured a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly nodded to the famous series One-Punch Man.
